Model UN aims to empower Washington and Lee students through international education and participation in international relations competitions at the intercollegiate level and to promote awareness of global issues for members of the W&L and greater Rockbridge communities.

To empower Washington and Lee students through international education and participation in international relations competitions at the international level and to promote awareness of global issues for members of the W&L and greater Rockbridge communities.
Functions of the Club
1. To organize delegations, prepare students to be part of delegations, and facilitate participation in competitive model United Nations and international relations conferences at the intercollegiate level.
2. To provide a forum for the discussion of issues relevant to international relations for members of the Washington and Lee community
3. To encourage international relations education at the primary and secondary school levels, specifically through the hosting of an annual or semiannual high school model United Nations conference
4. To have general body meetings monthly to accomplish these goals
5. To organize other meetings, fundraisers, and events necessary for the execution of the above functions
Membership and Leadership of the Club
All members of the Washington and Lee community are welcome to attend and participate in meetings of the Model United Nations Club, but delegations for intercollegiate conferences will be composed of students only. As much as possible, the club will endeavor to recruit members from across campus and to encourage all students to participate in Model UN programming.
Officers for the coming academic year will be ascend to their positions in April of the previous year. Officers will be expected to begin to work in their positions as soon as they are elected, and to serve until the end of the following year, in order to assist in training new officers.
The Model UN Club will have members filling the following officer positions each year (more officer positions may be created at the discretion of the previous year's leadership)
President: responsible for the leadership of the club, managing club funds and reimbursements, keeping a schedule of club events, and calling for and running regular meetings of the club. The president will also assist other officers in fulfilling the duties of their positions when necessary. Will be elected by a majority of the general body membership (multiple rounds of elections may occur if necessary).
Secretary of Intercollegiate Competition: Responsible for assisting other officers in choosing intercollegiate conferences each season, registering for said conferences, recruiting and training delegates for said conferences, and managing logistics like lodging and food during said conferences. To be selected by the President and the previous year's leadership by application.
Secretary of Fundraising and Publicity: Responsible for organizing fundraisers and updating membership on meetings, conferences, and other club events. Also responsible for maintaining a regularly updated account of the spending of the club and for completing reimbursement vouchers when necessary, to be cosigned by the president. To be selected by the President and the previous year's leadership by application.
Secretary of WLUMUN: Responsible for scheduling, contacting high schools about, and training staff for the high school conference Washington and Lee Model UN (WLUMUN). May also, at leadership's discretion, serve as the secretary-General of the conference. To be selected by the President and the previous year's leadership by application.
