Chesapeake Watershed Faculty Development Grants

The Program in Environmental Studies and the Department of Biology at Washington and Lee University seeks integration and mutual enhancement by encouraging faculty to expand the range of courses and experiences available to students in both of these academic units through the addition of an important regional dimension--the Chesapeake Bay watershed--to the already existing international portion-the Brazilian Amazon.

The program provides a place-based learning opportunity for students to study the causes, consequences and solutions to environmental problems.  This awareness and knowledge encourages and equips our graduates to be engaged citizens-and , as many achieve positions of responsibility and influence, inform their thoughts and actions as they pursue a wide variety of careers in business, government, academia and civic life.

Grant money is available to faculty for course development, research travel, research support, student internships, and curricular development.  To apply fill out the application form and forward it to Dr. James Kahn at kahnj@wlu.edu.
