In early June of 2014 I drove through 10 states in 3 days. I started the drive in Spartanburg, South Carolina, headed through the middle of America comprised of our nation’s “fly-over states”, and finished by driving up through the Badlands of the Dakotas.

Starting an internship at the Oregon Natural Desert Association (ONDA), I wasn't really sure what to expect. I was told that it would be best for me to have my own car, so I made the long trek from eastern Nebraska to central Oregon.

The A. Paul Knight Internship was the best summer of my life. I had an unbelievable experience that I won’t soon forget. The opportunity to work with such a neat conservation organization such as the Henry’s Fork Foundation has opened my eyes to all different sorts of conservation techniques and really cool people.

Even though I had spoken to past interns about their experiences with the Henry's Fork Foundation, I wasn't quite sure what to expect as I made the three-day trek across the country from Tupelo, Mississippi to Ashton, Idaho. Myself and the other interns lived in a beautiful house about ten minutes from the office, complete with a horse paddock, its two residents, and an incredible view of the Tetons.

I spent the summer working for the Henry's Fork Foundation in Ashton, Idaho. Right away everyone was very welcoming, and I became immediate friends with the other interns I was living and working with. Our first project was preparing for Henry's Fork Day, which is a large fundraiser for the foundation.

Spencer Duran '13

I drove out to Idaho, and arrived in Ashton in early June. When we first arrived we lived in the old HFF office on Main Street, but we were later moved into an intern house right behind the old and new HFF offices.
