Trying to Save Energy? Feeling Exhausted?
Exhaust fans are designed to suck all the air out of a space to get rid of anything you might not want to breathe in (smoke, odors etc.) as thoroughly as possible. When you need them, you need them. When you don't - get them off!
All the air that gets sucked out has to be replaced by 100% outside air. That new air has to be heated/cooled. Your heat or AC is working hard to get the air to the right temperature while your exhaust fan is running hard to send that conditioned air right out of the building. The air sucked out by the exhaust fans is replaced immediately by new fresh air that has to heated/cooled - just in time for it to be sucked right out. This cycle wastes energy and money. Give your bathroom and kitchen exhaust fans (and your wallet) a rest.
