New Minors in the Department of EALL!

minor in Chinese requires completion of at least seven courses beyond CHIN 111. A student may not complete both a major and a minor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures which focus on the same language. In meeting the requirements of this discipline-based minor, a student may not use more than nine credits used to meet the requirements of another major or minor. Chinese minors are encouraged, though not required, to study abroad (for Spring Term or longer) in a reputable language-based Chinese program. Students must complete CHIN 111 or equivalent prior to declaring the minor.


1. Language requirement: CHIN 112, 261, 262, or equivalent

. At least two 300-level Chinese-language courses chosen from CHIN 301, 302, 311, 312 
3. At least one course on Chinese literature chosen from LIT 218 or 220
