Dr. Yen has succeeded in every facet of a versatile musician’s career as a violinist and a pianist. Having the ability to play both instruments at the highest level gives her unique insight and knowledge which benefits her and her colleagues as a performer, collaborator and teacher.
As a violinist, Dr. Yen is currently a member of Roanoke Symphony and was formerly a member of Winston-Salem Symphony and New Mexico Philharmonic. She has appeared with the Williamsburg Symphony, Opera on the James, New Century Chamber Orchestra, the Garth Newel Piano Quartet, the Santa Fe Symphony, and has toured as concertmaster with the New York Gilbert and Sullivan Players. She was also a violin faculty member at Cazadero Performing Arts Camp. As a pianist specializing in collaborative piano, Dr. Yen was the resident accompanist at Bravo! Music Festival and has taught at Yinghua Academy in Minneapolis. She has accompanied for teaching studios at the University of Minnesota (Minneapolis, MN) and the University of New Mexico (Albuquerque, NM). She is currently the faculty accompanist at Washington and Lee University and music director at Warm Springs Presbyterian Church in Virginia.

Dr. Yen received her D.M.A. in Violin Performance, studying with Sally O’Reilly, and a Master’s in Collaborative Piano with Timothy Lovelace at the University of Minnesota. She also received orchestral training from Roger Frisch, associate concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra and holds a Master’s Degree in Violin Performance from Manhattan School of Music (New York, NY).
