Washington and Lee University Undergraduate Career Development is committed to maintaining good practices to protect the privacy of our students', alumni's, and alumnae's (collectively, "users") personal information. Career Development operates computer systems that are maintained by W&L ITS department. We also partner with external organizations, such as GradLeaders, for our job postings and on-campus interviewing services. Information collected by W&L LexLink is only accessible to the Career Development staff and is used to provide career services for users. This information is also used to construct reports that assist us in program planning and/or troubleshooting. Any information shared with third parties is only shared in aggregate form.
Collection and access to student information is governed by federal law under the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), as well as by the University's Student Education Records Policy.
W&L LexLink is Career Development's online system for job listings, on-campus interviewing, and career events. Although Washington and Lee University maintains ownership of all user profile data and résumés in W&L LexLink through Career Development, this information will reside on GradLeaders, the developer of W&L LexLink, servers. All privacy policies for our partners have been reviewed by Career Development and the University's Office of General Counsel.
Any data collected through W&L LexLink that is stored by the University is stored on a secure server.
Jobs, internships, and externships posted in the W&L LexLink system may or may not be reviewed before posting. Users are urged to validate job postings and use caution and common sense when applying. The Undergraduate Career Development staff strongly advises users to not disclose social security numbers, credit card information, or bank account numbers to unknown employers. Washington and Lee University and Career Development cannot be held responsible and/or liable for any damages, real or imagined, past, present, or future, from the information contained in or requested by the job postings.
Washington and Lee University reserves the right to change this Privacy Statement at any time by posting a revised policy on the Career Development website, which shall become effective immediately.
