Paul Negron '03

Negron Paul graduated from Washington and Lee in 2003 with a bachelor of arts in communications. He serves as the public affairs specialist for the DC State Board of Education. Paul manages communications, media relations, and public engagement for the nine-member elected education body in the District. He develops communication strategies to inform the public about the agency vision and mission, and coordinates writing, editing, media relation press releases, talking points, school visits, and social-media strategy. The SBOE has approval authority over statewide regulations for DC Public Schools (DCPS) and public charter schools in DC, including accountability frameworks, school report cards, attendance, residency, graduation requirements, and teacher preparation programs.

Paul is a featured blogger for the government innovation website GovLoop and is currently pursuing a master's degree in public relations and corporate communications at Georgetown University. Paul was also recently selected as a member of the Hoya Professional 30 Class of 2018, a group of student professionals recognized for making outstanding contributions to their industries and communities.  

Born and raised in Long Island, N.Y., Paul has resided in Washington, D.C. since 2013. An avid soccer player, singer, and tennis enthusiast, he currently lives in Ward 1's Park View neighborhood.
