J. Robertson Clarke '06, '11L
Mr. Clarke is an associate in the Financial Restructuring practice of the law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP in Dallas, Texas. The practice focuses on the legal representation of various groups in complex chapter 11 bankruptcy cases and out-of-court restructurings, including committees and other group representations, various categories of lenders, and debtors and troubled companies.
He graduated magna cum laude from Washington & Lee in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. Following graduation he taught Spanish for two years at the Blue Ridge School outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. He returned to Lexington in 2008 and received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the School of Law in 2011. While at the School of Law he served as an Editor for the Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice and a Lead Editor for the German Law Journal. During his third year of law school, Mr. Clarke was a Student Attorney with the Black Lung Clinic.Following law school Mr. Clarke served as a law clerk in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Virginia in Roanoke. He was admitted to practice in Virginia in 2011 and after his clerkship focused his practice on bankruptcy and creditors' rights issues. he was admitted to practice in the District of Columbia in 2015 and currently practices in Dallas, Texas where he lives with his wife and family.
