First-Generation Students

First-Generation Students

Washington and Lee University recognizes that being the first in your family to attend college is a huge accomplishment, and we are excited to be a part of this journey with you. Our own faculty and staff first-generation graduates are featured in the photo above!

We want to ensure you have all the resources and support you need as you learn and grow with us. Faculty advisers, professors, resident advisers, peer counselors, and class deans believe in keeping their doors open and are available to talk with you.

In addition to regular support on campus, we offer information sessions for parents of first-generation students during parent-orientation, our two first-year student move-in weekends, and again during parent and family weekend.
