GPS: Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What company has W&L partnered with to provide this service?
Tuition Management Systems (TMS) is contracted to provide the e-billing services on GPS. Our contract ensures that the processes are compliant with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act.

2.  May I still receive a paper bill?
As of July 2009, the Business Office no longer sends paper billing statements. All students have access to online services and can print paper copies if needed.

3.  Why is there a fee to make payments with my credit card?
W&L has chosen not to absorb the cost for merchant processing fees. A convenience fee of 2.75% will be billed as a separate transaction by Tuition Management Services to your credit card. Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards will be accepted.

4.  Where do I mail a check to pay my bill?
Please include the name and id for the student account on the check or money order and mail to:
     Washington and Lee University
     Business Office
     204 W. Washington Street

5.  Can I pay my bill in person?

      Business Office

6.  How do I make a Non-U.S. Bank payment?
Wire transfer payments can be made, with no fee from Washington and Lee University. However, other fees may be applied in the wire process by the sender bank or intermediary bank(s). Please contact businessoffice@wlu.edu for wiring instructions.

7.  How do I set up parents and/or guardian for access to GPS?
You can grant access to others to view your bill statements and other account information on GPS. To do this, click "Manage Account Access" on the GPS main page, and provide the name and email of the person you would like to invite to view your account on GPS. GPS will send an email to their individual you set up.
