Young Alumni Weekend Has Been Cancelled

We regret to inform you that due to the projected timing and path of Hurricane Florence, the 2018 Young Alumni Weekend is cancelled. Current weather predictions include both high winds and heavy rainfall in Lexington beginning on Thursday and throughout the weekend, which may result in downed power lines and flash flooding. With the closure of Doremus Gymnasium, demolition of the Warner Center and the possibility of widespread power outages, we simply do not have the capacity to ensure the safety of returning alumni in severe weather.

While we are disappointed in this turn of events and will miss seeing you all, we believe it is best to make this decision in time for those of you with hotel and flight reservations to avoid cancellation fees. We encourage you to be in touch with your hotel and airline as soon as possible. Our colleagues in Advancement Operations will be in touch later this week with information about refunding your registration fee. We will discuss the possibility of rescheduling reunions for the classes of 2008 and 2013 in the coming months.

Back in December you were notified about hotel blocks that were open for Young Alumni Weekend. You may contact any of the following hotels and ask if there are still available rooms in the "W&L Young Alumni block."

Best Western Hunt Ridge (540) 464-1500

Complimentary shuttle bus service will be available Friday and Saturday evenings between the hotels listed below and campus. Parking is also available in the W&L parking garage located behind the Warner Center gymnasium. Be smart, please don't drink and drive.

*If you are not staying at one of the hotels listed above, there will be no pick-up shuttle service at your hotel. However, you can be dropped off at your hotel (as long as it is in Lexington) upon request.

Dress for the Weekend

Lee Chapel attire is recommended for events held in Lee House. All other events are casual.

Arriving on Campus

The Young Alumni Weekend schedule of events is subject to change. Upon arriving in Lexington, please visit the Hotchkiss Alumni House to officially check in and receive your registration packet. This will include the latest weekend schedule, class-specific news, your reunion favor and name tag. YOUR NAME TAG WILL SERVE AS YOUR ADMISSION TICKET THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND.

Although you'll be missed, we understand things happen and it may be necessary to cancel your reunion weekend registration. If you cancel before Sept. 7, your registration fee will be fully refunded. After that, we cannot issue a refund.
