What kind of student organizations does W&L have?
There are over 130 clubs and organizations at Washington and Lee - and you can join them all. Options include performing arts, community service, multicultural and international organizations, publications and media, political, religious, sports, and student government. Check out the full list to see what you might join!
What activities go on during the school year?
If we listed them here, you wouldn't have enough hours in a day to read the list. But just to give you a taste, each year we have high-profile speakers, concerts by famous performers, programming on current topics with real experts, free weekend movies, service days and more! And these don't even count the number of activities and events hosted by student organizations. Check out the The Columns to see who's been to campus recently and what's coming up in the future.
How do I join a student organization?
The best way to get involved is by attending the Student Activities Fair that is held during Orientation Week . At the fair you can sign up for all organizations in which you are interested. Didn't get to stop by? Don't worry. Most organizations will allow new members to join at any point throughout the year by contacting the student in charge of the organization.
I didn't see a club I'm looking for... Can I start a new organization?
Absolutely! If you still want to start a new organization, then talk with the great folks in the Office of Student Activities. They can help you propose a new club and get it approved.
