W&L awards merit scholarships on the basis of academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and the potential to contribute to the intellectual and civic life of the W&L campus and of the world at large in years to come.
The Johnson Scholarship is W&L's premier merit scholarship. Scholarships are awarded to up to 44 incoming first-year students. Awards cover, at minimum, tuition, housing and food, plus $7,000 for summer funding to pursue research, travel, or internships.
In addition to the Johnson Scholarship, W&L awards other full-tuition scholarships on the basis of geography or special interest on a rotating basis.
In order to be considered for ANY Washington and Lee scholarship, students must submit a Johnson Scholarship application by Dec. 1.
