Our campus, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, is as picturesque as they come. But there's more to our setting than scenic harmony. This is where you'll have the space to breathe, to be inspired, and to focus on your educational experience.
Top students, faculty and visiting scholars come here from across the country and around the world, contributing their varied perspectives to a stimulating and invigorating campus environment.
We want you to come for a visit.
Our Fly-In Programs give admission counselors an opportunity to get to know prospective students by their academic achievements, extracurricular activities and personality.
The Diversity and Inclusion Visit Experience (DIVE) is a selective, two-day all-expense paid program for rising high school seniors. The visit focuses on personal engagement with faculty members and current students, life in a residential campus community (including staying in first-year residence halls), and a primer on W&L's admission and financial aid process.
DIVE reflects Washington and Lee University's commitment to introducing our distinctive liberal arts university opportunities to students from diverse backgrounds. DIVE affords curious, committed, high-achieving students an immersive campus visit where our focus is not only on the transformative opportunities at W&L, but on the ways they can make an impact on a community as conscious, civic-minded scholars.
DIVE I: September 22-24, 2019 (Application Deadline: August 8)
DIVE II: October 20-22, 2019 (Application Deadline: September 6)

Our abundant academic programs ensure your education will touch on diverse subjects. The strength of those classes, however, is the diversity of thought students bring to the classroom. Your voice matters here. Our core values of honor, integrity and civility are fundamental to our culture and they influence the thoughtful ways our students and faculty approach every conversation.
Our Honor System is entirely student-run and pushes students to take responsibility and realize their potential as citizens, peers and leaders.
You'll join a vibrant, welcoming community. You and your peers will arrive with life experiences from many different places. Together, you will make W&L your own.

There are other schools with "Washington" in their name. And other school names joined with an "&." But there is only one Washington and Lee University, founded in 1749 in the charming town of Lexington, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.
W&L is located in the heart of Virginia's scenic Shenandoah Valley. Our vibrant hometown and beautiful natural surroundings are two of the things our students come to love best about W&L.
The historic town sits at the crossroads of two major interstates, I-81 and I-64. Three regional airports and three train stations are within an hour's drive and regular shuttle service to and from the university is provided by campus services. Larger metropolitan areas of Charlottesville and Roanoke (1 hour by car), Richmond (2 hours by car), and Washington, D.C. (3 hours by car) provide further opportunities for travel and serve as destinations for internship and career exploration.
