What Is a Curriculum Map?

A curriculum map is a matrix showing where in your program students encounter, practice, and are expected to master each SLO. It makes visible what is already happening in the curriculum. A curriculum map is not itself an assessment measure, but can be used to help facilitary curricular changes in response to assessment data.

Why Map Your Curriculum?

• Are we introducing this skill early enough for students to develop it before the capstone?
• Are students encountering this outcome only once? A single encounter rarely produces lasting competence.
• Where in the curriculum is the best place to collect assessment evidence?
