Many students choose to participate in one of W&L's numerous spring term abroad courses, which allow students to get an up-close, intensive, and personal experience of the subject matter on-site with a W&L faculty member during the 4-week spring term. Offerings in recent years have included Drawing Italy in Rome, Spoleto, Cortona, Florence and Venice; Science and Art in the Netherlands; The Market and Media in China; Regional Geology of New Zealand; Japanese Language and Culture in Kanazawa, Japan; London Theater in England and the Economics of Tropical Seascapes in Belize.

Students who show significant commitment to and understanding of global interaction may apply to have their experiences recognized with a Certificate of International Immersion, noted on the transcript and in the listing of honors at Commencement.
The University's new Center for Global Learning will serve as the cornerstone of our comprehensive international education program and as an important physical focal point for W&L's globalization initiative. The center will draw together students and faculty from across departments, elevating broader viewpoints and driving and informing an integrated vision of global learning for the whole campus.
