Student tutors for introductory biology, chemistry, and physics courses will work in a designated study hall space between 8:00-10:00 pm Sunday through Thursday. Students may bring their homework to this study hall and may ask for help from the student tutors. Study Halls are in the IQ Center Stereo 3D lab, Science Center A202A.
Academic Help Centers
The University Library and the ITS Help Desk have integrated their services and share the centrally located Information Desk on the main floor of Leyburn Library. From this desk, they deliver many services, including:
- The loan of books, films, digital cameras, laptops, and presentation hardware
- Interlibrary Loan
- Research assistance
- Troubleshooting computers,
- Support with preparing presentations
- Creating and printing posters
- Digitizing/editing audio and video, using scanners, and editing digital images
- Analyzing data sets and using GIS
The Math Center provides a supportive learning environment for those W&L students seeking help in lower-level mathematics courses, particularly Calculus. It is open Sunday - Thursday evenings, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., and is run largely by students for students. The mathematics tutors who operate the center are selected and trained by mathematics faculty at the beginning of the academic year.
The Tucker Multimedia Center (TMC) is located on the top floor of Tucker Hall. It supplies advanced methodologies with the support of technological tools to its users in the teaching and learning of foreign languages, as well as in areas unique to the humanities.
For students enrolled in Williams School classes, the Williams School Communication Center provides access to professional writing consultants versed in the particular details of writing within the disciplines of accounting, business, economics, and politics.
Located on the main floor or Leyburn Library, the Writing Center offers individual tutorial assistance to students on any college writing task, from papers and lab reports in any stage of completion. Directed by the coordinator of the Writing Program, the Center is staffed by upperclass students in various major fields chosen for their superior writing and teaching abilities.
