First-Year Student Housing

Graham-Lees is the oldest residential building on campus, and, with 215 single and double rooms, it is also the largest. Two earlier dorms, Graham and Lees, were joined in 1940 to make this U-shaped residence hall for first-year students. Men live on the first and second floors while first-year women live on the third and fourth floors. Rooms are divided into halls of 12-15 residents who share a bathroom, resident adviser (RA), peer counselor and themed decorations.

Each room contains:

  • one extra-long twin bed with mattress per resident
  • one closet per resident
  • desk(s)
  • desk chair(s)
  • one four-drawer dresser per resident
  • campus phone
  • cable jack
  • wireless internet
  • Ethernet jack

ROOM RATES FOR THE 2009-2010 ACADEMIC YEAR
The rate for a single room in is $4,965; the double room rate is $3,285.

Coordinate with your roommate (if you have one) concerning a MicroFridge, stereo, game console, or anything else it might be better to share.

Storage space for luggage is available in the basement of the building. Laundry facilities are located on the ground floor of the building. The machines take quarters ($1.25 for the washers and $1 for the dryers), or you can put money on your student ID and swipe the card in the machines.

If you have a medical condition that requires you to have air conditioning (i.e. allergies) you are required to have your physician complete the Medical Documentation for Special Housing Requests form found on the Student Health Center website. If your request is approved by the University physician you will be notified and you may purchase a unit using no more than 110 volts and 5,000 BTU's. It must be installed by W&L Facilities Management.

There are a limited number of lofts available for bunking beds and facilities management must handle assembly/disassembly. If you want your bed(s) lofted or delofted you will sign up with Facilities Management on move-in day.
