Several types of gifts will count as a match toward the Lenfest Challenge:
Gifts made to the Lenfest Faculty Support Challenge Endowment. Gifts of any amount made to this endowment provide flexible funds to increase faculty salaries.
Gifts endowing a named deanship ($5 million minimum.) These gifts provide endowed support for competitive faculty compensation, while naming one of the most senior and prestigious faculty positions.
Gifts endowing a named professorship or an academic directorship ($1.25 million minimum, only until December 31, 2010.) These gifts provide endowed funds to recruit, support and retain outstanding faculty for existing positions. Gifts endowing a coaching position, including the position of Athletic Director ($1 million minimum.) These gifts may be directed to a specific area within the Athletic Department, and will help to underwrite the salary of a specific coaching and teaching position.
Gifts endowing a named term professorship ($500,000 minimum.) These prestigious awards help keep compensation competitive and honor faculty for their outstanding teaching. Term professorships recognize a different professor every three to five years.
Gifts to support school or departmental faculty endowments ($100,000 minimum.) These gifts support faculty salaries in a donor’s particular area of interest.
The University will accept outright gifts and pledges counting toward the Lenfest Challenge by
December 31, 2010.
