
Raymond Martin, Research Profesor of Philosophy at Union College, spoke to students in Prof. Jessica Gordon-Roth's A History of Personal Identity seminar via Skype on Wednesday, January 23, in Northen Auditorium. Students had prepared questions in advance which were submitted earlier in the day to Prof. Martin.

Professor Martin is the author of a number of books, including The Rise and Fall of Soul and Self: An Intellectual History of Personal Identity (Columbia UP, 2006), Naturalization of the Soul (Routledge, 2000), both co-authored with J. Barresi, Self-Concern: An Experiential Approach to What Matters in Survival (Cambridge UP, 1998) and The Past Within Us: An Empirical Approach to Philosophy of History (Princeton UP, 1989). He is also the co-editor of numerous textbooks, including Personal Identity, co-edited with J. Barresi (Blackwell, 2003), God Matters: Readings in the Philosophy of Religion, co-edited with C. Bernard (Longman, 2003), Self and Identity: Contemporary Philosophical Issues, co-edited with D. Kolak (Macmillan, 1991), and The Experience of Philosophy, co-edited with D. Kolak (6th ed., Oxford UP, 2005).
