The 1749 Circle is a special philanthropic society recognizing and honoring the loyal alumni, parents, and friends who support the University consistently over time. This society is not about how much you give; it’s about the simple act of giving, year after year.

Frequently Asked Questions:
How do I qualify for membership in the 1749 Circle this fiscal year?
You can only qualify for FY13 membership if you make a gift before June 30, 2013 and have already supported the University in FY11 and FY12.
Do I need to make a gift each year to remain a member of the 1749 Circle?
Yes.
What if I miss a year?
Once you re-establish three consecutive years' support for Washington and Lee, you will become a member of the 1749 Circle. By making a gift this year, you’ll be well on your way!

1749 Circle members will be recognized within the entire W&L community by receiving special recognition in our Honor Roll of Donors, and will be recognized among their peers with distinctive nametags at Alumni Weekend.
Is membership based on the amount of my gift?
No. A gift of any size will count towards your 1749 Circle membership. Your gift will make a difference!
Do capital and restricted gifts (support designated for particular campus initiatives) count toward membership?
Yes. All gifts to any area of the University count towards membership to the 1749 Circle.
I am already a member of the Presidents’ Society. Can I also be a member of the 1749 Circle?
