    Guided by faith and commitment to social justice, Episcopal Community Services of Maryland strives to address the injustice of severe poverty, which is embedded in communities and disempowers individuals. ECSM provides education and support systems as well as advocates for families and individuals seeking help in overcoming adversity. ECSM operates three programs to help people navigate the obstacles of homelessness, poverty, and reentry into society: The Ark, a preschool for homeless children; The Club at Collington Square, an after-school and summer camp for low-income students; and Jericho, a re-entry program focused on workforce development and job placement.   • Bread for the City

    Bread for the City provides vulnerable residents of Washington, DC, with comprehensive services including food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services. Each month, more than 10,000 individuals are helped by the organization’s food and clothing services, and the medical, legal and social services clinics care for more than 2,000 individuals each year.     LIFT is a growing movement to combat poverty and expand opportunity for all people in the United States. LIFT's mission is to alleviate poverty in DC and our country by engaging the nation's college students in this effort. Note: This position in the Spanish office is appropriate for interns interested in Job Training, Law and Immigration (Spanish required). The position in Ward 8 is appropriate for interns interested in Job Training, Housing Access and Law. AmeriCorps Eligible: Yes
