The Albemarle Corporation Honor Scholarship

The Albemarle Corporation Honor Scholarship (formerly The Ethyl Corporation Honor Scholarship) was created in 1986 by a gift from the Ethyl Corporation to recognize an entering student with an interest in chemistry, chemistry engineering or business related to the petrochemical or chemical industry. The scholarship is awarded to recognize superior achievement in academics, extracurricular activities and community service. This is a full tuition award renewable for four years of work at Washington and Lee, provided the recipient maintains a 3.3 grade point average.

To be considered for the Albemarle Corporation Honor Scholarship - or any merit-based awards - students must fill out and submit the Johnson Scholarship application, along with a complete application for admission, no later than December 1, 2012. Students must indicate chemistry or chemistry-engineering as their intended major on their application for admission in order to be considered for this award.

Only students invited as finalists for the on-campus Johnson Scholarship Competition will be considered for this scholarship. Finalists who are being considered for the Albemarle Corporation Scholarship will participate in an additional interview, conducted by the faculty in the Chemistry Department, during the Johnson Competition.
