Joana Traykova proudly displays the 2012 Elizabeth B. Garrett Scholarship for the outstanding French major. Congratulating Joana are French professors (L-R) Françoise Fregnac-Clave, Mohamed Kamara, and Domnica Radulescu. The scholarship, founded in 1918 by Mrs. Elizabeth B. White, is awarded annually by the French faculty to the rising senior who best exemplifies the passion for French language and Francophone culture characteristic of the French major. In addition to the certificate, Joana will receive a tuition scholarship, recognition in the 2012 Commencement Program, and will have her name engraved on the departmental memorial plaque listing recent winners of the scholarship.
