Kendre Barnes honored with the Barritt-Williams Prize in Spanish

The Spanish faculty of the Department of Romance Languages honored Kendre Barnes, a rising senior Spanish major, with the Carlyle Westbook Barritt and Sydney J. Williams, Jr. Prize in Spanish, recognizing in her passion for the Spanish language and Hispanic culture the model of an outstanding Spanish major. In the picture above, Kendre is congratulated by Professor Gwyn Campbell, who is holding the Prize certificate, and Professor Mónica Botta.  In addition to the prize, Kendre will receive a cash award and recognition in the 2012 Commencement Program.

Kendre studied winter term 2012 in Seville, Spain, at the Center for Cross-Cultural Studies, and took classes at the Universidad de Sevilla.  She plans to write an Honors Thesis this year as a senior under the tutelage of Professor Ellen Mayock.
