During her four years as a LACS minor, Aria Vainstein (Montgomery, AL) concentrated her studies in Latin American literature, art history, and politics, and studied under Professors Barnett, Mayock, Botta, González, Lepage, and Dickovick. As a first-generation Peruvian-American each summer, she traveled to Lima, Peru to visit her family: her favorite activity is visiting downtown Lima to see the Cathedral, the churches of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, and the Presidential Palace. She has also traveled to Cusco, throughout the Sacred Valley, and Machu Picchu; during her junior year, she traveled to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. In her four years at W&L, she was active in ESOL and taught English to the local immigrant population. She hopes to teach English abroad next year and eventually to attend law school.
