The Rev. John Brown also served as pastor of the New Providence and Timber Ridge Presbyterian churches. The academy was then located in Mount Pleasant, near Fairfield. During this time, Capt. Alexander Stuart and Maj. Samuel Houston donated 40 acres of land at Timber Ridge for what would become Liberty Hall Academy.
