The Writing Center offers individual tutorial assistance to students on any college writing task, from papers and lab reports in any stage of completion to resumes and application essays. Directed by the coordinator of the Writing Program, the Center is staffed by upperclass students in various major fields chosen for their superior writing and teaching abilities. The Writing Center is located on the main floor of Leyburn Library. The Writing Center will facilitate the advanced writing skills needed for success within Washington and Lee University. Writing tutors do not proofread or edit student work; rather, they teach students to recognize and correct their own errors, with the goal of making each student a more confident and self-sufficient writer. In keeping with the Honor System, students who come to the center must acknowledge assistance on any project they submit.
