If you're looking to get fit or stay active at W&L, your options aren't limited to the University's 24 varsity athletic teams. You'll find plenty of additional opportunities through the Campus Recreation office. Regular group exercise offerings include Body Sculpt, Sport Circuit, ZUMBA , yoga, kickboxing, pilates, step and group cycling, while those interested in team sports can choose from a variety of intramural leagues and sport clubs. The University also boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center for individual workouts, including the latest cardio and strength training equipment.
Runners will find information on races and events organized by the local running community on the Campus Rec Running page, while those interested in getting off the beaten path can explore the mountains, rivers and trails of the southeast through the Outing Club. W&L students lead most of the Outing Club activities, which include backpacking, fly fishing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, mountain biking, caving, skiing, and outdoor cooking. Trips vary in length from day hikes to ten-day trips held during February and Spring break. Equipment and trip planning resources are available to all Outing Club members who want to do their own trips.
