The Boyd Honor Scholarship

The Darnall W. Boyd Jr. Memorial Honor Scholarship was created in 1989 by the family, friends and classmates of Darnall W. Boyd, Class of 1978, who lost his life in March 1985. This full tuition scholarship is awarded every other year to an incoming first-year, preferably from the Columbia, SC area. The award is renewable for four years of undergraduate study, contingent upon satisfactory personal performance and attainment of a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.3.

To be considered for the Boyd Scholarship - or any merit-based awards - students must fill out and submit the Johnson Scholarship application, along with a complete application for admission no later than December 1, 2012. Only students from the Columbia, SC area will be considered for this award.

Finalists who are being considered for the Boyd Scholarship will be notified of their finalist status in late January, and will participate in a personal interview, conducted by Columbia area alumni and a representative from the W & L Office of Admissions, in March. Winners will be notified by the end of March.
