Geology major Kristin Staffo ('11) spent over three weeks in northwestern Argentina in the summer of 2010, working with Professors Jeffrey Rahl and David Harbor to investigate the long-term erosional history of the Andes. Her goal was to track changes in the nature of sediment shed from the high mountains, characterizing the composition of conglomeratic clasts and fine sand deposited over the past 5 million years. Kristin presented her preliminary results at the national American Geophysical Union conference in December of 2010.
