Chester Youth Collaborative

The Chester Youth Collaborative (CYC) is a youth development initiative whose mission is to increase the quality of resources available to Chester youth between the ages of 12-22 by increasing the quality, quantity and duration of organizations that serve youth. This is done by providing technical assistance and training in a number of ways, including creating a uniformed management information system for organizations and building new programs. Interns are needed for both programs.

CYC originated in 2005 via a three-year grant from the William Penn Foundation. There are five groups that make up CYC:

  • Youth Council, which consists of community members who are 12-22, who collectively represent "youth voice."
  • Community Council
  • Advisory Council, made up of representatives from anchor institutions that have the ability to affect policy and leverage resources for the youth in Chester.
  • Youth Serving Organizations Council, comprised of agencies that serve youth between the ages of 12 to 22 in the city of Chester
  • CYC Board, with members from the four collaborative groups who collectively guide the work of the
