The Office of Corporate and Foundation Relations collaborates with virtually every office on campus to bridge the institutional needs and priorities of W&L with the strategic initiatives of philanthropic foundations and corporate giving programs across the country.
CFR works primarily with the offices of the President, Provost and Deans to pursue funding for projects most central to the university strategic plan. We also capture opportunities arising from foundation and corporation calls for proposals, respond to national giving trends as they are appropriate to our mission, and work with academic departments and faculty members to support specific programmatic initiatives.
George Carras, W&L director of corporate and foundation relations since 1997, retired from that position June 30, 2011. Dr. Carras will continue working as a senior research professor here at Washington and Lee.
