Dr. Gibbs has over 25 years of management, consulting, and academic experience. He has taught over ten courses across the curriculum in business administration, accounting, and economics at Washington & Lee. Other teaching experience includes faculty positions at the College of William and Mary, Georgetown University, and Boston University. In addition to his position at Washington & Lee, he is also an adjunct professor at Virginia Tech teaching management of innovation in the EMBA, PMBA, and MIT programs.
Dr. Gibbs is founder and principal of Renaissance Management Consulting, a firm that provides strategic management consulting services for new business start-ups, early-stage firms seeking financing, and mergers and acquisitions of mid-state ventures. Currently, he is also serving as CFO for a medical technology venture.
Dr. Gibbs was formerly a principal in the Strategy Practice at Hay Consultants and has held management positions in business planning, marketing, and finance at FMC Corporation and Allied Signal, Inc.
Dr. Gibbs' articles have been published in Sloan Management Review, Strategy and Leadership, Strategic Management Journal, and Organizational Dynamics. He wrote the Instructor's Resource Guide for Strategic Management by Garth Saloner, et.al. (John Wiley & Sons). And he has developed and taught on-line courses on strategy and negotiation for the MBA programs at University of Maryland and Walden University.
