Professor Culpepper "returned" to W&L in August of 1999 and is teaching Business Law and a seminar course entitled "Negotiation & Dispute Resolution in a Business Environment." He is also serving as co-advisor to the Williams Investment Society and as a pre-law advisor for the undergraduate university at large.
After completing law school at Washington and Lee School of Law, Professor Culpepper practiced law for several years and then served as a district court judge in Virginia for nineteen years. During that time, he also taught Business Law from time to time at Washington & Lee from 1974-86 on a part-time basis.
Prior to coming back to W&L, he was working as general counsel for a large footwear company in North Carolina. He continues to serve as a certified mediator and arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and several other dispute resolution organizations.
