Box Office hours:Join us for New Orleans Nights featuring Allen Toussaint, Nicholas Payton, and The Joe Krown Trio. Toussaint, heralded as a seminal influence on the music of New Orleans, is a 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the 2009 Grammy Trustees Award. Toussaint is a producer, arranger, songwriter, musician, and “all-around musical eminence” as described by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Artists whom Toussaint has produced, recorded, or performed with, or composed for, are quite impressive—the Rolling Stones, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Paul Simon, and many more.
Called “abundantly gifted” and “a high-wire soloist” by The New York Times, Nicholas Payton is a composer, bandleader, and extraordinarily talented trumpet wizard. He began playing trumpet at four and turned professional at 12. In 1997, he won a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Solo.
The Joe Krown Trio features Joe on the piano and organ, Walter Wolfman Washington on guitar and vocals, and drummer Russell Batiste, Jr. The trio started playing together in March, 2007, at a local New Orleans nightclub. The combination of the soulful vocals of Walter with the big sound of the Hammond B-3 organ and the masterful drumming of Russell Batiste, Jr. has developed a loyal following of New Orleans Jazz aficionados.
