Other Words of Advice
- The Admissions Office will ask students to submit the following: A completed application, including a personal essay. Official score reports from the SAT I (W&L's code is: 5887) or ACT (4430). Two SAT IIs are also required - subjects should be in unrelated areas. An official copy of your high school transcript. One letter of recommendation from your college guidance counselor. Two teacher recommendation letters, preferably from junior and/ or senior year.
- Visit our Download Forms page if you wish to print any part of the W&L Application, including the Supplement to the Common Application and the Johnson Honor Scholarship Application.
- W&L regards all application methods equally as an expression of sincere interest in Washington and Lee. Please choose only ONE method to apply. Submitting multiple applcations will slow our ability to process your credentials.
- Pay close attention to our deadlines. If materials are received after the application deadline, it could negatively affect your chances of admission to Washington and Lee. Cognizance of deadlines is especially important when applying for the Honor Scholarships and need-based financial aid.
- Schedule an interview. While not required, interviews are strongly recommended as part of our application process. You may interview either on-campus or in your hometown with a member of our Alumni Admissions Program.
