W&L Cross Country Competes at Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble The Washington and Lee men’s and women’s cross country teams were in action on Saturday morning at the Oberlin Inter-Regional Rumble. The W&L women finished ninth out of 27 teams, while the men were 16th of 30 teams.
July 7, 2009: W&L Track & Field Athlete Honored by USTFCCCA The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recently announced its 2009 Division III Women's All-Academic Team and recent W&L graduate Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) was among those honored.
June 4, 2009: Three Generals Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors Washington and Lee seniors Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) and Becca Taylor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) and junior Billy Billington (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) have all been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III Track & Field/Cross Country Teams as first-team selections.
May 26, 2009: McKelvey, Doornbos Highlight Award Winners at W&L Seniors Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) headed the list of honorees at the annual Washington and Lee University Athletic Awards Ceremony on May 26 at W&L’s Lee Chapel. McKelvey was named the Pres Brown Outstanding Senior Male Athlete, while Doornbos was the female recipient of the award.
April 29, 2009: Two W&L Student-Athletes Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships Washington and Lee senior swimmer Paul Crook (Nashville, Tenn./Montgomery Bell) and senior cross country and track & field athlete Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) have been awarded National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Postgraduate Scholarships. The awards are a $7,500 scholarship for academic work beyond the baccalaureate degree as a full-time or part-time graduate student.
April 16, 2009: Numerous W&L Students Earn Scholar-Athlete Awards Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced that 172 students earned Scholar-Athlete awards during the recently completed winter term. The students are all members of W&L athletic teams and achieved a grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.500.
