W&L Baseball Drops a 3-2 Decision to Salisbury in NCAA South Regional The eighth-seeded Washington and Lee baseball team fell, 3-2, to top-seeded and third ranked Salisbury on the opening day of South Region play in the NCAA Division III Baseball Tournament on Wednesday afternoon at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.
Peyster's Homerun Propels W&L Baseball to 8-6 Win Over RMC Senior second baseman Byron Peyster's (Washington, D.C./Maret) two-run homerun in the top of the ninth inning broke a 6-6 tie and lifted the sixth-seeded Washington and Lee baseball team to an 8-6 win over third-seeded Randolph-Macon on day three of the ODAC Baseball Championships at Lynchburg City Stadium.
June 29, 2009: W&L's Taylor and Webb Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans Washington and Lee seniors Becca Taylor (Hamilton, Ohio/Edgewood) and Elizabeth Webb (Middleburg, Va./Wakefield) have been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both Taylor and Webb were tabbed to the third team.
June 29, 2009: W&L's McKelvey Named to VaSID All-State Team The Virginia Sports Information Director's Association (VaSID) announced its 2009 All-State baseball team recently and Washington and Lee senior centerfielder Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) was honored for the second-straight year.
May 26, 2009: McKelvey, Doornbos Highlight Award Winners at W&L Seniors Terrence McKelvey (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) and Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) headed the list of honorees at the annual Washington and Lee University Athletic Awards Ceremony on May 26 at W&L’s Lee Chapel. McKelvey was named the Pres Brown Outstanding Senior Male Athlete, while Doornbos was the female recipient of the award.
