Washington and Lee Student Consulting (WLSC) is a student-managed organization created to provide pro bono consulting services to for-profit and not-for-profit businesses and community organizations.
Student members receive an opportunity to put into practice those concepts that they study in the classroom. Beginning in the sophomore year, WLSC members have a chance to hone their strategic planning and implementation skills.
Whether the client organization is a local community group, a national for-profit business, or an international venture with partners in Latin America or elsewhere, WLSC members strive to provide strategic solutions comparable to what clients might receive from commercial consulting firms. WLSC projects have included business/marketing plans, assessment of accounting methods, web site design and development, economic assessment, and human resource consulting.
WLSC graduates have gone on to successful careers with leading international firms, including Bain & Co., The Boston Consulting Group, Deutsche Bank, J.P. Morgan, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers, to name a few. Others have attended top graduate programs, including Harvard Business School, the Darden School at the University of Virginia, Washington and Lee Law School, and Harvard Law School.
W&L is committed to extending students’ education beyond the walls of the traditional classrooms. By encouraging students to integrate activities such as WLSC with their classroom discussions, the entire educational experience is enriched for all participants.
