A student appealed the finding of the Student Faculty Hearing Board of conduct unbecoming of a Washington and Lee student. Outcome: The UBA voted 2-1 to uphold the SFHB's finding of conduct unbecoming. The dissenting member questioned the SFHB's jurisdictional authority to find a student guilty of "conduct unbecoming of a Washington and Lee student." The UBA voted 3-0 to reduce the sanction to 52 weeks of conduct probation.
UBA Appeals 5, 6 and 7
Three students appealed the minimum applied sanction as provided by the University Initiatives on Alcohol and Other Drugs for a first offense. Outcome: the University Board of Appeals elected to modify the sanctions and neither grant nor deny the appeals. The UBA was unanimous in its decision.

A student appealed the parental notification provision provided by the University Initiatives on Alcohol and Other Drugs. Outcome: the University Board of Appeals did not find in favor of the appeal and parental notification was applied. The UBA decision was unanimous to deny the appeal.
UBA Appeal, 3
A student appealed the $100 educational fee for a violation of the University Initiatives on Alcohol and Other Drugs under the section on Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Outcome: the University Board of Appeals did not find in favor of the appeal and the educational fee was upheld. The UBA decision was unanimous to deny the appeal.
UBA Appeal, 2
A student appeals a Student Judicial Council ruling of suspension for a second violation of the University Initiatives on Alcohol and Other Drugs on the grounds that the penalty was too harsh. In light of the unanimous Student Judicial Council decision, we did not find any evidence that supported overturning the Student Judicial Council decision that the student continues to pose a risk to self and the community. AThe UBA decision was unanimous.
UBA Appeal, 1
A student appealed an automatic suspension for a violation of the University Initiatives on Alcohol and Other Drugs under the section on Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Specifically, the student's Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) exceeded .15 and the student was convicted as such in criminal court. Outcome: the University Board of Appeals did not find in favor of the appeal and the suspension was upheld. The UBA decision was two votes to deny the appeal and one vote in favor of the appeal.
