Jayson Blair, the disgraced ex-New York Times reporter, addressed Washington and Lee University's Journalism Ethics Institute on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.
In 2003, Blair resigned from the Times after an investigation found that he had plagiarized and fabricated major portions of stories that he had written during four years with the newspaper. Some of the stories that he covered in this manner were such major news events as the D.C. sniper case and the rescue of POW Jessica Lynch.
The 33-year-old Blair, who attended the University of Maryland, spoke for about 30 minutes and then answered questions from students and pradticing journalists attending the Institute for almost an hour.
