I worked as a paralegal at the New York County District Attorney's Office in Investigation Division Central, a bureau which investigates and prosecutes banking and securities fraud cases. It was a great experience and one that encouraged me to pursue a career in law. I stayed on for a second year and am now a student at The University of Maryland School of Law.
As an Elrod Fellow, I was invited to attend seminars with paralegals from other public service programs. One of my favorites was a debate between an assistant D.A. and a public defender about the legal system and their respective roles within it.
