Drop/Add and Degree Applications
Degree Applications
The deadline for submission of Degree Applications for the Class of 2010 is Tuesday September 15. These forms are downloaded and completed by seniors and then signed by academic advisers.
This year, degree applications are more important than usual because seniors have to understand that the new spring term is no longer a safety net for those who have neglected graduation requirements. There will be PE skills courses in the spring and there will be courses that fulfill general education requirements and count toward majors and minors, but no senior will be able to take more than one regular class or more than one PE skills course. Some spring term courses will involve travel or special activities that will prevent students from taking even one PE course.
This is the year for seniors to plan ahead and signing the degree application is a time when you can ask them if they are ready for new calendar.
New Drop/Add Procedures
There was a recent BroadcastMailer to students and faculty with information about revised drop/add procedures. After one week, the fines for late changes in registration are now higher. After the second week of the term, schedule changes result in a permanent transcript notation of W. Details about all the drop/add changes are available at: http://registrar.wlu.edu/policies/DropAddPolicies.pdf
Both of the messages above have been delivered multiple times in a variety of ways. In general, this advising email series is produced by the university's Office of Redundancy Office and will often contain information you have already received. The idea is to provide brief reminders that arrive in your email inbox at a time when they are useful. Please excuse, or embrace, the repetition. The first message in this series involved fall registration and was sent only to faculty doing first-year advising.
