
Dr. Eric Hallerman, Professor of Fisheries and Wildlife at Virgina Tech The Chesapeake Bay Program is honored to sponsor Dr. Eric Hallerman on campus as the first of nine Biology Department seminars for fall term. Dr. Hallerman will be presenting "Horseshoe crabs, red knots, and fishers interact to pose a challenge to management." He has pioneered work using genetics to solve problems in fisheries management. In 2007, he received the Award for Excellence in Fisheries Education from the American Fisheries Society.
Dr. Hallerman will be speaking at Washington and Lee University on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in Huntley Hall 221 at 12:20 pm. All are welcome to attend.
Dr. Peter Bergstrom, Fishery Biologist, NOAA
Sponsored by the W&L Chesapeake Bay Program & The Program in Environmental Studies, Dr.Peter Bergstrom will present "Restoring an Estuarine Ecosystem: Indirect Restoration Through the chesapeake Bay Program Partnership," Dr. Bergstrom is a Fishery Biologist at the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office in Annapolis, MD. His main research involves habitat assessment, protection, and restoration of tidal fish and shellfish and their habitats, especially oysters and Submerged Aquatic Vegetation (SAV), which provides habitat for fish and blue crabs.
