This was a surprise given that I was confident that I would be an Engineering major when applying to college. I expected to go through college in applied-math, and engineering courses. However, I found that the Mathematics and Computer Science departments were much more engaging to me, which led to my eventual declaration of a Mathematics major and a Data Science minor."</Blurb>

They don’t mean just a friendly campus; they’re referring to a culture that shapes character as much as it sharpens minds. The Speaking Tradition sets the tone, creating a campus where friendliness is second nature. The Honor System builds trust that deeply influences how students live and learn together. Students engage fully in service, in nature, and across campus, because four years at W&L are designed to nurture the whole person. Conversations continue beyond the classroom, and the university’s size ensures that every interest — academic, athletic, or creative — receives support. The bonds formed here endure for a lifetime." Students of all years congregate between class periods to grab a snack and hang out. Oftentimes, I will sit in Coop if I have a long break to do work and talk to friends who briefly walk through. As a senior who lives off-campus, I have a profound appreciation for Coop because it represents the close-knit community that W&L fosters. No matter the time of day or the number of close friends that share your class schedule, there will always be an acquaintance that is happy to chat and say hey. Coop has provided me the opportunity to get to know more of my peers in a casual, comfortable setting."
