Washington and Lee senior Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) earned All-America honors after her school-record setting performance in the heptathlon at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday and Friday at Marietta College.
With Doornbos' 2009 outdoor All-America honor, she is now a three-time All-American, the most citations of any W&L woman track athlete. Additionally, she is a two-time All-American in the heptathlon.
Doornbos notched a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon with a school-record total of 4,764 points. On day one, Doornbos recorded a school-record time of 14.82 in the 100 meter hurdles. She then cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump, tossed 10.38 meters in the shot put and finished the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.22. Doornbos began the second day by leaping 5.24 meters in the long jump and followed that up with a toss of 30.23 meters in the javelin. She completed the two-day event by crossing the finish line in 2:23.15 in the 800 meters.
