W&L's Doornbos Earns All-America Honors at the Division III NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships

MARIETTA, Ohio. -- Washington and Lee senior Stacy Doornbos (Roswell, Ga./Lassiter) notched a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon with a school-record total of 4,764 points and garnered All-America accolades on Friday afternoon in the second day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Marietta College at the Don Drumm Stadium.

Doornbos's All-America citation was the third of her career after also receiving All-America honors in the heptathlon at the 2008 NCAA Outdoor Championships and in the pentathlon at the 2009 Indoor NCAA Championships.

Doornbos began the second day by leaping 5.24 meters in the long jump and followed that up with a toss of 30.23 meters in the javelin. She completed the two-day event by crossing the finish line in 2:23.15 in the 800 meters.

On day one, Doornbos recorded a school-record time of 14.82 in the 100 meter hurdles. She then cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump, tossed 10.38 meters in the shot put and finished the 200 meter dash in a time of 26.22.

This now concludes the 2009 Washington and Lee outdoor track and field season.
