Wanted: Eight rising juniors who wish to make a difference in the Rockbridge County Schools.
W&L Teacher Education, in conjunction with the Shepherd Poverty Program, has recently created a eight internship positions through funding provided by the Burish family: The Burish Service-Leadership Internships. We are looking for rising juniors who are prepared to commit 3 to 4 hours per week – 2.5 to 3 in the schools and another 1 or 2 to recruiting and training fellow students to serve as school volunteers—for the fall and winter terms of the 2009-2010 academic year. We are recruiting now, so the interns will be able to begin work immediately in the fall. Stipends will be provided for travel costs and general expenses. Students may use the internships as work- study positions and may earn academic credit, if interested.
