Burish Service-Leadership Internships

Wanted: Eight rising juniors who wish to make a difference in the Rockbridge County Schools.


 W&L Teacher Education, in conjunction with the Shepherd Poverty Program, has recently created a eight internship positions through funding provided by the Burish family:  The Burish Service-Leadership Internships.  We are looking for rising juniors who are prepared to commit 3 to 4 hours per week – 2.5 to 3 in the schools and another 1 or 2 to recruiting and training fellow students to serve as school volunteers—for the fall and winter terms of the 2009-2010 academic year.  We are recruiting now, so the interns will be able to begin work immediately in the fall.  Stipends will be provided for travel costs and general expenses.  Students may use the internships as work- study positions and may earn academic credit, if interested.  Please refer to the Teacher Education website for more details and for an application form, Teacher Education.  You may also contact Lenna Ojure, the Director of Teacher Education, ojurel@wlu.edu,  or Haley Sigler, the Assistant Director of Teacher Education, siglerh@wlu.edu , for more details.  Applications are due by May 21st at 5:00pm.  Be among the first to qualify for one of these internships.
